Should I Send My GMAT Score Now or Wait?

Question

Hi everyone! I just took the GMAT, and I saw that I have 48 hours to send my scores to up to five programs for free. But I’m wondering: if I send my scores to a school that  I haven’t applied to yet,  what happens to my score?

What’s the best thing to do now? I really don’t want to waste money just to send my score later on. I received my official GMAT result today,  but the university I want to apply to won’t open their admissions until the end of November , and I only have 48 hours to send my score for free

If you send your scores to a school before applying, they will simply hold your GMAT score in their system until your application is submitted. Most schools will store GMAT results for up to five years, so it won’t be an issue if the admissions cycle hasn’t opened yet. You should take advantage of the option and send you scores; most schools will store them irrespective of whether the application has opened or not; once you send the score, you can also check with the school.

Hi! If you send your GMAT scores to a school before you apply, your scores will be on file for when you submit your application. It won’t hurt to send them now since you have the chance to do it for free. Just make sure the schools you choose are ones you’re seriously considering. This way, you won’t waste money later, and your scores will be ready when you apply!
