Online Score Canceled Without Explanation Has Anyone Successfully Ap

Question

Hey everyone, 
 I just received an email from GMAC saying that my  GMAT Online score of 715  has been canceled due to "irregularities." I’m completely shocked because I followed  every single rule perfectly  and did exactly what the proctor asked. 
 
  I stayed fully visible on camera the entire time.  
  I showed my room twice and confirmed multiple times that my phone was far away.  
  My desk was completely clear, and I didn’t even take a break to avoid any potential issues.  
  I properly displayed my whiteboard whenever required and followed all verification steps precisely.
   
 Despite all this, my score was canceled without any specific reason—just a vague mention of “irregularities.” I haven’t sent an appeal yet, but I plan to, and I’d really appreciate any advice from those who have been in a similar situation. 
 Has anyone successfully appealed a GMAT score cancellation? What’s the best way to approach my appeal to maximize my chances of getting my score reinstated? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hm... this is two more reports in addition to another report I saw last week. This is very unusual. I hardly remember a single cancellation but now we have three in a matter or a couple of weeks.

I’m really sorry. Someone also got banned for two years I think, without much of an explanation. They were baffled and pretty broken up.

I only know of one incident and it’s somewhere buried in GMAT Club but back at the beginning of pandemic when the online test has just come out, a couple people had their scores canceled in a similar fashion and one of them hired an attorney and they reported back that the score was reinstated. I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle but sharing what I know. 😬

PS. I would not say that reinstatements are rare, it’s just score cancellations are super rare so we hardly hear about those and therefore we hardly hear about score being reinstated.

Sorry that you're going through this,  djorbs ! This isn't fun.

Obviously, it's 100% worthwhile to appeal in a situation like this. Sometimes, scores get cancelled because of things that are misinterpreted. For example, maybe you were talking to yourself, and they thought that you were talking to somebody else in the room. Maybe the internet connection was glitchy in a way that COULD be a sign of cheating -- and obviously, it wasn't. Maybe you had a VPN running in the background or something.

Anyway, actual humans at GMAC read the appeals, so explain your position in as much detail as you can, and pray for the best. But definitely appeal.

Lost in the shuffle here: you freaking crushed the exam, and that's awesome. Even if GMAC denies your appeal, you're a badass, and good things will happen on a retake.
