GMAT FE 655 under security review

Question

Hi! I took the gmat online yesterday and got a 655 on my first attempt which is okay but I expected more for the amount of time I spent studying for it. However late last night I received an email saying my score was undergoing a routine security review. I don't know what this means as the exam went really good the proctor didn't intervene once. I heard that high scores get automatically cancelled but I wouldn't say 655 is considered a high score even when you compare it to the normal gmat which corresponds to a 710. Does someone know what will happen?

Hi  @aurorelc ! First of all, congratulations on your score of 655, it's a great starting point! Regarding the email, I think it's normal for GMAC to conduct routine security reviews, so it may not be something to worry about. It doesn't necessarily indicate any issue with your test. That being said, it might be a good idea to ask  bb  or one of the moderators here, as they usually have more experience with such situations.

There's that old line -- "there's nothing to worry about until there's something to worry about".

Given the possibility of cheating with online GMAT tests, it's normal for them to conduct random security reviews. And there's really nothing for you to act on since they haven't told your score is cancelled or anything like that.

So just sit tight and wait for further communications, you said there were no interruptions by the proctor so that's a good sign.

Ok thanks, it s just that I am a little stressed because I saw some posts saying that 4 scores got cancelled last month without any explanation and I’m just scared this will happen to me

ok thanks for the help I will let you know how the situation goes! To study I mostly used the GMAC Official Guide, GMAT Official Practice Exams (all available ones), and GMAT Official Advanced Questions.I also worked with a private tutor to refine my weak areas and participated in online study groups with fellow test-takers to discuss complex concepts and strategies.

Negative experiences tend to be more common online. The reality is that most test takers won't face any issues, and most routine reviews don't result in score cancellations, so don't worry too much about this. On the other hand, if you plan to retake and don't want to go through this again, consider taking the exam at a test centre.
