Mary, John, and Karen ate lunch together. Karen’s meal cost 50 percent more than John’s meal, and Mary’s meal cost 5/6 as much as Karen’s meal. If Mary paid $2 more than John, how much was the total that the three of them paid?

Lets consider Karen's meal as 6
Mary's meal will be then 5 (5/6 of Karen's)
John's meal 2/3(6)=4 (karen's was 50% more than John) 150 % of X =6 so X would be 2/3*6
Now mary actually pain 2 more than John
but in our case the difference is 1
So lets multiply everything by 2
karen's meal becomes 12
Mary's become 10
john's become 8
total 12+10+8=30$ (option B)
