In this week's edition of GMAT Ninja Fridays, we tackle Inference Questions — the undisputed king of unnecessary RC mistakes. If you are using your real-world logic, "reading between the lines," or making creative leaps to find the answer, you are walking right into the GMAT's traps. On the GMAT, an inference isn't a guess; it's a mathematical deduction.

Thank you for posting the verbal Class series with Charles. Is this list updated? It would be great if you could share the complete YouTube series.

Thank you,

Join GMAT Ninja Every Friday for Live Verbal Class on YouTube

Starts from Feb 27th,
Every Friday @ 11am ET / 9:30pm IST

Location: GMAT Club's YouTube Channel

Welcome to the GMAT Ninja Friday series, in which we will be tackling all the concepts & questions types tested in verbal section of the GMAT. Starting with Reading Comprehension, every session tackles one major verbal topic from RC as well as CR sections, with a deep focus on the conceptual gaps and mindset traps that create plateaued scores.

Tentative schedule is below—Subscribe to our YouTube channel to get timely notifications & join us live to get your questions resolved.

RC Sessions Calendar
  1. Feb 27: Finding primary purpose on GMAT RC. (Fun fact: main ideas aren’t a thing.)
  2. March 6: How to read for point of view. (Whose opinion is this, anyway?)
  3. March 13: Inferences, suggestions, and implications. (The #1 source of unnecessary RC errors.)
  4. March 20: Functions & roles (Why the **** did the author mention this, exactly?)
  5. March 26: CR-style RC questions. (When you assume, do you really make an a** out of u and me?)
  6. April 3: Oddball RC questions (The GMAT doesn’t care about your silly question categories.)
  7. April 10: Drowning in details. (What to do with shapeless blobs of facts)

CR Calendar will be Published Later. Stay Tuned!

Today's Session: Paradox and Discrepancy Questions.

🔴 Watch this Episode LIVE Here https://www.youtube.com/live/HFtn_gVvMro

In Episode 3 of our GMAT Ninja Critical Reasoning series, we tackle Discrepancy, Paradox, and Explain an Oddity questions. You know the feeling: the passage gives you two facts that seem completely contradictory and your brain starts to break. Your job on these questions isn't to argue with the facts or challenge the premises. Your job is to find the missing puzzle piece that allows both of these weird, contradictory facts to peacefully co-exist.

Can you share a framework or a general strategy to attack
Quest Type : Evaluate the argument.

Sometimes I feel Yes-No test doesn't work properly. So I want clean and simple Technique that I can apply on each Evaluate the argument Quest type

I love these series! Deliberately scheduling my GMAT test to end of May so I can gain all this lovely knowledge:)

For ep 5 - would love general tips to success e.g. common mistakes, how to choose between 2 answers at the end, what to do if you don't understand the text on first read and have to keep rereading it etc.

Thank you!

Thank you so much, eaat! I don't think we'll do a dedicated video on those mistakes -- we've done similar things in an AMA or Q&A format, and they haven't been terribly popular.

But come join us for the live sessions if you can, and ask whatever you'd like. I've definitely addressed some of those core struggles (choosing between the last two, whether it's OK to re-read, etc.) in multiple videos, and am happy to keep doing so in the context of each lesson's theme.

Charles please can we go over this question: https://gmatclub.com/forum/under-labora ... 26971.html
Because that question is in the mba.com tests, I won't address it directly in the video lessons. If we use mba.com test questions in the videos, plenty of viewers will recognize those questions when they take a mock exam -- and that will warp their score in ways that aren't ideal.

There's good news, though: tomorrow's session is on boldfaced questions, and I already have several picked out that are very much like the fruit fly question. So hopefully that will help a bit. If you join the live session, feel free to remind me of your GMAT Club username if it doesn't match your YouTube handle. :)

See you on YouTube!

Noted, thank you! I'm not sure how many more episodes we'll add to the series, but it shouldn't be a problem to fit this in somewhere.

Hi Charles, thank you so much for the GMAT Ninja Wednesday sessions, they've been really great!

I was wondering if you could cover the plan/construct type questions in the next session?

Thanks again!
