yashsharma let me try to help
This question is particular based on conditional reasoning where If X(is sufficient), then y(for necessary)
Elion is a liquid, usually highly toxic, that is created only when petroleum is pumped rapidly by offshore petroleum rigs. - this is 1st condition, if elion is created then petroleum is pumped rapidly by offshore PR
If and only if the maximum pumping rate of a rig's machinery is exceeded, will Elion be released into the surrounding water,- this is 2nd conditional
usually in unpredictable amounts. A technique must be developed to safely dispose off Elion. Most of the Elion produced at offshore petroleum rigs is shipped to the mainland for disposal in underground caves, but not all caves can safely contain the highly toxic liquid.
Also in conditional if X, then Y contrapositive is always true i.e If not Y then not X
Which of the following can be definitely inferred from the passage?
Now let's evaluate
A. If petroleum producers were able to predict the amount of Elion released, they would be better able to facilitate safe disposal.- better able to facilitate we cant infer
B. If Elion is not released into the surrounding water, the petroleum well's maximum suggested pumping rate has not been exceeded.- this is 2nd conditional contrapositive hence keep it
C. No underground cave can safely contain Elion. Again incorrect check last line
D. Some Elion is sent to underground caves that cannot safely contain it.- not verifiable
E. The additional cost of shipping of Elion from off-shore fields to the mainland appreciates the price of petroleum- costing not discussed
So B Hope this helps

If someone can help answer this
The passage says that Elion is generated only if capacity is exceeded. But nowhere does it mention that if the capacity is exceeded, Elion will definitely be generated. How did we draw that inference?
