Hi DMT99,

There isn’t enough clarity yet on the depth and nature of your work experience — particularly the industry exposure, scale of responsibilities, and impact delivered. Your extracurriculars are decent, but your post-MBA goals currently feel somewhat broad and need sharper articulation. Do you already have any direct exposure to the VC ecosystem beyond the newsletter initiative? That would be important to understand because transitioning into VC immediately post-MBA can be challenging without prior investing/startup exposure. I would strongly recommend refining your post-MBA narrative in a more structured and credible manner.

From a test score perspective, targeting a GMAT Focus score around 675 would be a good benchmark for ISB. Given your experience level, you should also consider programs like IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP

All the Best!

Hi there,

Below is a brief overview of my profile.

10th: 8.2 CGPA
12th: 72%
B.E: 7.03 CGPA, (tier 3 College)

8 yrs of work experience in an MNC, of which 6 months of international experience. Total experience is equally split between R&D & Sales. 3 promotions till date & 1 Patent to name.

Extra Curriculum:

  • Started a VC newsletter focused on the Energy & Manufacturing Sector.
  • Educating school kids & teachers on Sustainability & UNSDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals)
  • NGO works operation in the pipeline with a focus on sustainability & water resources.

Hobbies:
  • Running
  • Cooking
  • Football

Why ISB MBA?

  • Develop a strong business foundation with a focus on Strategy, Finance & Marketing. ISB's world-class faculty & Pedagogy will provide me with that.
  • Network to eventually land in a growth start-up/consulting job after graduation and then move to a Venture Capital domain, which is evolving in a manner where they are onboarding people from execution backgrounds rather than only PE/IB/MBB backgrounds.
  • Ultimately aim is to start embarking on my own Entrepreneurial journey after few years post MBA.

My questions:

1. How realistic is it to get into ISB with my profile?
2. How much do I need to get on the GMAT to make this realistic?
3. If yes, is there a scope for scholarship?

Regards,

DMT99 Hope this finds you well. 8 years is a long time to be with one organization. Make sure to balance your application with signs of risk-taking, and that could also come from pushing boundaries through internal role changes and proving your mettle in new roles internally. You have hardly mentioned anything about your work, so it is just not possible to give any feedback. I hope you are doing your due diligence with regard to your goals and strategy.
If you share your experience in detail, I could maybe add more insights coming from experience. In any case, target upwards of a 675 on the GMAT.

Feel free to get a free profile evaluation and discuss your MBA plan

Best wishes

DMT99 - some more details can help assess your profile better e.g.

- any precedence of undergrad alum at ISB?
- professional experience: which company, key projects/ achievements, were the promotions standard or fast-tracked, nature of international experience, etc.
- the goals seem unconvincing: why consulting e.g. any particular domains/ niches? and why VC?

While there's no magic score, aiming for a 675-685+ with a balanced sectional split would be ideal.

All the best!
