An automobile manufacturer tested 10 electric-vehicle prototypes with different battery capacities. For each prototype, the graph shows the battery capacity, in kilowatt-hours (kWh), and the driving range, in kilometers, measured under the same standardized test conditions. The line shown is a linear trendline for the data.
From each drop-down menu, select the option that completes the statement most accurately based on the information provided.
The greatest difference between an observed driving range and the driving range indicated by the trendline is approximately kilometers.
According to the trendline, an increase of 15 kWh in battery capacity corresponds to an increase in driving range of approximately kilometers.

The greatest difference between an observed driving range and the driving range indicated by the trendline is approximately kilometers.
According to the trendline, an increase of 15 kWh in battery capacity corresponds to an increase in driving range of approximately kilometers.
Official Solution:
Drop-down 1:
We need to find the point with the greatest vertical distance from the trendline.
The point on the vertical gridline halfway between 50 and 60 kWh is clearly the farthest from the line. Its observed driving range is about 260 km. At the same battery capacity, the trendline is at about 300 km.
Each horizontal grid interval represents 20 km, so the point is two grid intervals below the trendline:
300 - 260 = 40
Therefore, the greatest difference is approximately 40 kilometers.
Drop-down 2:
According to the trendline, when battery capacity increases from 40 kWh to 45 kWh, an increase of 5 kWh, the driving range increases from about 240 km to 260 km, an increase of 20 km.
An increase of 15 kWh is three times as large as an increase of 5 kWh. Therefore, the corresponding increase in driving range is approximately: 3 * 20 = 60 km
Therefore, the correct selection is 60 kilometers.
