Congrats, but 49/47 split seems like it would be higher than a 760, no?

sevenplus - For me, the more reading comprehension questions I did the better I got at it. It's all about understanding what is being in said in the passage and where the information is contained in the passage. If the question begins with "according to," then you know the answer to the question is actually written in the passage. If it's an inference question, you just have to pick the answer choice that flows with what's stated in the passage. I would always read each paragraph twice before reading the next paragraph, which helped me get a better feel for what the author was trying to tell me. The critical reasoning questions aren't very tough once you learn how to spot the author's conclusion and what evidence/assumptions the author relies on to make that conclusion.

emoryhopeful - That's exactly what I thought, especially since some on this forum have gotten a 49/46 split and a 50/45 split and made a 770. However, I'm sure there are ranges with the scaled scores that you score in, and perhaps I was in the very low range of both the 49 and 47. However, I'm thankful for the 760.

Hi,

I m very new to GMAT. Have become member of the club today itself. Had gone through the post written by you and it has given me a fair idea to start preparation for GMAT. Till now i was little worried because of the unawareness , but with the help of your posts n other relevant posts ,have got some clarity.. Please do give me some more suggestions and tips to begin and take up the score somehwere around 700..

Thanks

erim - up until you took MGMAT 4, you were hovering around the high 600s but beyond that MGMAT 5 and 6 you had a dramatic improvement. Especially in your verbal abilities. Anything specific that happened between MGMAT 4 and 5 that helped you improve so much ?

49/47 might have reached 770 in the past. But there are so few 770s, that it's difficult to tell. There might be more 780s than 770s. I think the problem is the 49 quant. 770+ is elite level and I think it's difficult to attain w/o a minimum of 50q.

Either way, good score!

Damn! Great score and a good debrief. Congratulations, Bro. Your profile (which I took a sneak peek at) is quite impressive too. Witha non-tech/engineering background, you sure rocked that Quant section!
