I hate my textbook with a vengeance. Its horrible and totally f*@!#*!@ incomprehensible. Can someone recommend any decent accounting textbooks, or better yet, free online resources? (For the record, I've got the Stickney & Weil "We Really Cant Write For Sh*t" Financial Accounting, 12th edition).

Introduction to Financial Accounting, by Horngreen Sundem Elliott and Philbrick worked for us.
Don't be fooled by the "Introduction" word. It's only introductory for the first few chapters.

I took accounting my last quarter of undergrad (about 2.5 yrs. ago) and also found it to be astoundingly counterintuitive. I mean, why is a debit money that is coming in??!? And yes, I remember the T-accounts, cash flow statements, etc.

It seems that the grad school accounting books must all be crap compared to undergrad. While I was taking my accounting class, I had a friend who was in an Exec. MBA program and was taking accounting. I actually helped her out a bit and ended up loaning her my book (which I never got back, grrr) because she was having the same problems as Rhyme with her book.

I think that when I have to take accounting I'll just look and see what the undergrad book is and buy that one too!
