What is the probability that event E or event F or both will occur?
(1) The probability that event E will occur is 0.6.
(2) The probability that event F will occur is 0.4.

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

are they mutual?

i think there is some problem in question.. i am getting prob. > 1

0.6 + 0.4 + 0.6 *0.4 > 1 which is not write..

please shed some light boss..

okay,

the prob is 1- "the prob of something else happens"

by having both probabilities (.6 + .4 = 1) we know that there are only two events and no other, third event, can happen.

therefore the answer is C. either this or there is something wrong with the Question..!

What is the probability that event E or event F or both will occur?

Here is my answer
Formula for event EUF i.e (either event E or event f or both occur) = E + F - (E&F)

In above, we are not provided with (E&F) therefore, answer is E i.e statement 1 and 2 are not sufficient.
