Hi Carsen,

Thank you for your support.

The difficulty of the Quant questions had more to do with how to correctly apply the rules and not with the type of question asked. This is why a thorough examination of the questions in the OG is crucial to understanding the ETS way.

Say you get a question that combines probability with geometry. At first it looks intimidating but if you apply your knowledge of the rules of probability and your knowledge of say, circles, then you should be able to solve the problem without too much struggle.

Word problems are tough but once you figure out equations, you'll be fine. I got only one combinations question and it was quite easy. I don't remember any rate problem, maybe one but it was also easy. A lot of the questions were a combination of different concepts, say statistics with combinations.

Study the rules! Study the rules so that you can apply them in whatever type of question.

Thanks Paul :-D . I definitely feel like I'm part of the family and I'm not going anywhere. I've become addicted to this website and to the bloody GMAT. What an exam!

GoalStanford,
I think I might have overanalyzed the RC questions, always trying to think of ways ETS can trick me rather than focusiing on just answering the questions and forgetting ETS. Also, although we frequently use words like "contrast", "support", "evaluate", it's easy to overlook the meaning of these words. With main idea questions, you need to ask yourself how the passage evaluates, how it supports etc. I found that I wasn't sure whether the passage was supporting a theory, contrasting a theory or evaluating a theory. It seemed to do all three! If I take the exam again, I think that I would have to learn to write a summary of each RC passage and of each CR passage. It takes a lot more time to do this but I believe it is a strategy that may help me. I also need to learn how to concentrate better.

Congratulations Ndidi. Your contributions here have helped a lot. thank you for that.

You should consider asking accepted.com and mba game plan whether to retake gmat or not. Discuss your entire profile with them right from your undergraduation days. After you have their advice, it might help you decide.

If you do decide to retake, please consider that it is harder to start your prep after a long break.

Congrats again

Sincerely
Praet

Congrats Ndidi on your great score.650 coupled with some great essays and some lethal w/e can pitchfork you to a great school. If you ask me it all boils down to your w/e,the schools you want to go to and the pool that you belong to (I just hope ur not an asian...its way tough for we Indians).
As Praet said ...post your profile in Accepted.com section and let Linda comment on it.Also you can ask the same question in Businessweek.com forums....there are some dudes there who give sound advice even though they they are not professional consultants.

Concentrate on your essays and recommendations and everything would fall into place.

Wishes,
Vivek.

Thanks Praet. Your advice is duly noted.

Thanks Vivek. I'll do as you say and ask Linda what she thinks.
