I recently took the GMAT and did well with all of the help from this forum.

One thing that surprised me when I got to the testing center, however, was that I was required to use a dry erase marker to work out problems on the test.

Did this throw anyone else off?

I apologize if this has already been posted but I thought it was important information to pass along to anyone that is about to take the test...practice with dry erase markers if you can!

How did you do on the test? Happy with the score or thinking about another attempt?

I got a 700 43Q (68%) 42V (95%)...but I am thinking about taking the test again.

It's a great score but I am worried that it won't be enough to get into the top schools (H/W/Kellogg). I am just out of undergrad and am on track to have the right work experience for those schools but I'm still figuring out if/when I want to retake the exam.

Great timing then with gmat - I do think the sooner you can take it after high school graduation the better
It is ironic that GMAC evaluates one's management abilities based on high school math...

I have heard that there has been a huge surge in applications to top schools from undergrads--thanks in part to Harvard's 2+2 program and Yale's Silver Scholars program. I think that people are realizing that it is much easier to take the test when you are in undergrad as the material is fresh and the time-constraints are much better.

Yea, I was told by several friends to take the GMAT early...I think that it will help me in the long run.

In terms of Undergrads taking the test right after school...I think there probably are more now than there have been in the past. Undergrads are preparing for b-school admissions much more than they were before...at least that is the feeling I have developed after reading some of these boards.

You can also buy the marker for two dollars (US) from the MGMAT store: https://www.manhattangmat.com/storeitems ... 78&catid=8

That's much cheaper than 11 dollars!

I more or less agree with taking the test right after undergrad as it is when one is most in a study mode and frankly less distracted. However, you start running up against the GMAT test score limits as schools more and more want experienced grads.

Having said all this, I think schools will start to get a bit more 'broad' with their admissions criteria if applicant pools start shrinking.

Great verbal score NC2CHI. Any particular strategies that you used for SC, CR, RC questions?

Thanks bb and bmillan, I tried mgmat, but they are charging about 8$ for shipping. Does anyone know whether this will be available in office depot or staples?
