Hello All,
There is not much information on MasterGmat.com and hence I thought I would leave my opinion / review about this course. I tried this course for 7 days (trial) but decided not to pursue it further. It does not mean the course was bad, but just not conforming to my preference.
This course is completely adaptive. What that means is, it does not let you decide what you want to focus or work on, but has its own algorithm that decides what you SHOULD work on. This was a big negative factor for me. However, I must say, it is one of the most thourough learning experience ever. It is suited for someone who is starting out and has enough time in hand and also does not have just a few focus areas.
PROS :
- Really cool way to learn new stuff. My RC scores jumped from 40 % accuracy to almost 70 which is big for me. Also, my SC went up from 50 to almost 65. I did not get a chance to look at their quant.
- The UI is very appealing. Also, the explainations and starting lessons break things down into different color and fonts so that you understand faster and better.
- Customer service was good. The person who was answering my question had a very good idea about GMAT and was able to explain the learning system in better detail.
- They have a thingy beside every question, whenever you are stuck you type in there and a GMAT expert will contact you about it. Communication with GMAT experts is free and unlimited.
- The learning mode is good and has tons and tons of practice. Its algorithm makes you remember basic concepts thousands of times. It does not let you skip even a single question. So, if the algorithm finds that you are weak in SC - Subject Verb Agreement, it will keep pushing those kind of questions to you at a much higher interval till you get better. Lets say you are really good at CR, it will first determine / confirm it and then maybe throw a CR question every now and then.
CONS :
- I am a control freak and want to decide what I am weak at. Giving that control entirely and letting an algorithm run my study plan is something I have yet to get used to. I guess I am old school, read from book or listen to someone talk kind of guy.
- I think its a little pricey for my taste ( $600 not 750 since they have a special going on)
Overall I think its a good program for someone who has 4+ months and is open to computer algorithm (optimized) deciding your study plan.
