Hi Can someone from the forum suggest me what is the max number of times GMAT can be taken

I mean to an extent where it doesn't looks bad on the initial screening of your profile.

I dont think there is an answer for that. I do know someone who took it 4 times and go admit in top tier school.

I agree with chix475ntu. I don't think there's an actual maximum number of times you can take it. But after 4 times it may look like your 'score hunting' and your time is probably better spent on another part of the application.

That means my dream to get into a good b school is screwed
i gave it 5 times with all my energy and 100% effort and what i got was 600

Not necessarily. If you have other strong parts of your profile and tailor your essays correctly and maybe use the optional essay to explain your gmat score (which isn't bad by the way), then you have a decent shot of getting into a good bschool. There are many posts on this forum of people who have gotten into top schools with a gmat score or gpa below the average for the school. Don't get discouraged.

hey thanks a lot....the word discourage doesn't exist in my dictionary

I have already lost much in my life and career. GMAT is a tiny bit of all those things.
I'll focus on building my profile and if i am lucky enough. I would surely get in a good b-school

You can take the test up to 5 times per year but there is no limit in terms of how may years you can continue taking it.

Note that schools will receive a record of ALL of your attempts in the past 5 years. it is not a big deal usually as they take the highest score only, but just FYI.
