Hi

I am currently in Knewton online course. I heard lots of good things about Manhattan Quant Books. If I really want to score high on quant, do I need to purchase those quant books? Do these books provide additional value to Knewton's? Thanks

I think the manhattan gmat books are simply superb (Number Properties / Equations, Inequalities & VICs / Word Translation are especially good. You won't regret it. I never bought the Geometry book because I am good at solving geometry/coordinate geometry problems.)...On the verbal side I think you should get the one on Sentence Correction. The books on Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning are not as good. You might want to get the Powerscore CR Bible for the Critical Reasoning section.

Yes the book on Word Translation contains a chapter on Permutations and Combinations. Permutations & Combination problems contrary to popular perception don't appear as frequently as other problems on the test even for test takers who have high scores. Most of the high scorers say that they see at most 2 permutation or combination problems on the test.

Though Manhatten quant books does not delve deep into the basics, they do help in familiarizing the GMAT patterns.
