Totally gutted

Question

Hi, my name is Vinayak

I gave my GMAT yesterday and had a nightmare of an experience. After finishing the last question, to my horror, I saw 570 on my score page. I am still in a dazed state, unable to come to terms with the reality.

Prior to taking the GMAT, I had taken 7 GMAT CATs

My scores are

Knewton Diagnostic CAT - 690

Manhattan GMAT test 1 - 710 (Q 50, V 37) ( not sure about the breakup)
Manhattan GMAT test 2 - 720 (Q 48, V 40)

GMAT prep test 1 - 710 (Q 50, V 35)
GMAT prep test 2 - 730 (Q 50, V 37)
GMAT prep test 3 (after resetting)- 760 (Q 51, V 41)
GMAT prep test 4 (after resetting)- 750 (Q 51, V 40)

As you can see, my Verbal is not as good as my quant. But on the test day, I got an abyssmal 20 on the verbal. I find it unfathomable. Towards the end, I got 2 passages that were quite intricate but still I managed to figure out the right choices. I finished my verbal well within the allotted time. (66 mins, I guess). Please help me!!

I am sure GMAT preparation took you a lot of time that you could spend it with friends and family. Go out, have fun, get drunk and all other things that come to your mind. Don't worry about the exam. There is nothing to be done now.

wow - sorry to hear this. You do seem to have quite a disconnect between your practice and final gmat score.

worm... I know how you feel buddy. I was getting 650 in gmatpreps 3 days prior to the test... ended up with a 570 in the real exam, I'm still stunned. ping me if you want a study budy

That's a big different my friend, I think you might have problem with the pressure of the test day. Learn to keep calm and then give it a retake, I think you should do much better than that.

You probably just had a **** day.

Relax, rebook the test, keep studying like you have been, and give it one more go.

If the same thing happens again, re-adjust your study plan then.

Sorry to hear about that buddy........just take a deep breath and stop thinking about it anymore. Just make sure you identify things that you did wrong in your first exam and try to rectify them the next time. You probably had a crappy day........dont think about it the next time you take the exam
