For even numbers:

(a)+ (a+2) + (a+4) + (a+6)..... continuing indefinitely

for example a=2

2+4+6+8.....
consecutive even integers

For odd numbers

(a+1) + (a+3) + (a+5) + (a+7)

for the same example 2

3+5+7+9

consecutive odd integers

Just remember any even number plus or minus 1 will give you an odd. For simple consecutive integers you can use this reasoning to determine the difference between each number.

An=A1+(n-1)d

An= Last Number you are looking for

A1= first number in the series

n= number of terms in the series

d= difference between each number
