I just wanted to get an opinion on my particular situation. I was interviewed by the admissions committee 2 weeks ago. I never brought this up in my interview, but I'm planning to enroll in some college level accounting and finance courses prior to my MBA matriculation. I have an engineering background and my quantitative score on the gmat was pretty decent so I don't think they'd question my quantitative abilities.

The question is if you guys think I should notify my interviewer AND/OR account manager about my enrollment in these courses prior to my matriculation? Thanks guys!

To be honest with you, I don't think this will affect much. Once you reach the interview stage, the AdComs are pretty much sure of your ability to succeed intellectually, but they just want to know who you are through the interview. The additional classes surely will help your own knowledge, but I think you've already impressed the AdComs with your intellectually ability.

oOo, that's a close call. Both schools are, obviously, very good. I think it will really depend on what you want to post-MBA that will diffferentiate between the two schools. Traditionally speaking, Yale has been known for its non-profit and finance career. Darden places very well in the consulting field, but is also strong in finance. Both schools have all the top firms recruiting directly on campus, and both are not in a city. Yale places more students in the northeast, Boston, NY; whereas Darden places more in the D.C. and the south. So all in all, both are awesome schools, but just depend on what type of track you want to be in.

Thanks! This is really helpful. I'm looking to go into social enterprise and then start my own business and hope to live in the DC area.

One big difference between Yale and Darden is their educational philosophy. So that might be something you want to focus on. Does the 100% case method appeal to you or do you like Yale's approach. I was personally baffled by Yale's curriculum, it just didn't click with me.

Darden Rd invites went out for the most part in in February, but the Adcom says that they retain the right to invite anyone to interview right up until the notification date of March 23rd

which pretty much sums it all up. Really disappointing, and I do not really know, where my application went wrong. :? Well, hopefully I will get my pick of the list of other top schools I have had my interviews with.

Good luck to all who have had their interviews already!

Rado, I'm sure you're just as qualified as anyone who has received an interview from Darden and that the application process itself is really just a crapshoot sometimes. Best of luck at the other schools!!

I think it'll just be a bit more than a week before decisions come out. Good luck to everyone in the running!

Dang. Really? It feels like 8 years from now before they release their decisions instead of 8 days.

Yep, I, too, received a phone call a day before, in the early morning (8am-ish, Pacific time).

Besides the waitlisted schools, Darden became the last hope. :(

Gonna be a LONG week.
