Hi All !

Sharing some SCs from a recent mock test (thought that u may or may not get the same q when you take the same mock and that it'd be a good practice for all... ). Please post some explanation with the answers.

The issue is the use of correct form of verb: began vs begun.

1. began - past form, which can be used with out any helping verb, of begin.
2. begun - past participle form, which cannot be used without any helping verbs/models such as can, could, will, would, shall, should, ought to, has/have/had, may/might/must etc.....

Considering the verb form, it should be "beganB.

agree with GMAT TIGER.

'began' and 'attained' are parallel.

B for me.

C is incorrect because 'began' does not 'had'.....it is incorrect to say 'had began'

begin --> began --> begun

'begun' is the past participle of 'begin' and needs helping verb but 'began' does not need a helping verb.

I chose B because "began" should be used and best expresses the flow of events.

The participle form of BEGIN should be BEGUN, not BEGAN. So, that is the reason why choice C is incorrect.
