The first die doesn't matter, we just need the second die to match whatever number is on the first die, so the answer is 1/6.

Two dice are thrown at random, find out the probability of getting same digit in both dice?
(a) 5/6
(b) 2/3
(c) 1/3
(d) 1/2
(e) 1/6
Solution:

When two dice are thrown, there are a total of 6 x 6 = 36 outcomes. Of these 36 outcomes, only 6 have the same digits in both dice, namely (1, 1), (2, 2), (3, 3), (4, 4), (5, 5), and (6, 6). Therefore, the probability of getting the same digit in both dice is 6/36 = 1/6.

Answer: E

Given that Two dice are thrown at random and We need to find out the probability of getting same digit in both dice?

As we are rolling two dice => Number of cases = \(6^2\) = 36

Getting the same number both times can happen in 6 ways
(1,1), (2,2) , (3,3), (4,4), (5,5), (6,6)

=> Probability of getting same digit in both dice = \(\frac{6}{36}\) = \(\frac{1}{6}\)

So, Answer will be E
