Hi,
I am little confused about booking my G.mat date. I thought you guys can help me on this ..
My Profile:
work ex: 4 yrs (will be 5 till next fall)
Industry: Software MNC
B.tech(E.C.E) 67% (decent college..not great)
Worked as a software engineer..will get promoted this year.
Asian- male(mentioning as I know Asian pool is most competitive)
Also, did some social work.
In M.Gmat, I have scored from a range of 640 to 700.(last two were 690 and 700)
I am interested in doing MBA finance
My choice of colleges(ranked on choice):
Boston College
Carroll School of management
Kelley
Urbana Illinois
Rotman
Vanderbilt University
Can someone from moderators please, comment that what should be the required G.mat score for such pool of colleges. I have seen stats in business week but somehow, I know a guy with same profile as mine and 680 G.mat being rejected in the above colleges. I want to take admission in 2011 fall session. I am confident that I will be able to score above 650. Kindly, suggest in this regard.

We all know that GMAT is not the only criteria for selection in a desired b.school. So I think you should go through the avg GMAT score of your dream schools & set a target to be above or at par with that GMAT score. Again, if you get your desired gmat score, this will not guarantee the admission. Your profile needs to be strong & you will be considered as a brand for the school. & I hope you know yourself better than anyone else.
Now coming to your score of MGMAT, I think you should take GMAT Prep test to know your actual abilities. GMAT Prep is the most accruate reflector of ones abilities. Once you take gmat prep, you will know how much do you need to focus on certain areas. This will also help you decide your gmat test date.

You'd be fine with a 690 or 700.
I would take the time to focus on your verbal and English-writing skills if you want to stand-out among the international applicants.

I am stuck in this funny situation where I am fighting myself with booking a date for G.mat. I want to apply on second round. I guess, I can take G.mat mid Nov so as to apply in 2nd round.
