Each supervisor in the company oversees 18 workers. After a reorganization, the number of workers overseen by each supervisor will be 26. The number of workers remained the same after the reorganization. How many supervisors will be needed to oversee the company’s workers after such a reorganization?

If, from Statement 1, the company has 13 supervisors, and each supervises 18 employees, the company has 13*18 employees. So the company will need 13*18/26 supervisors (or, canceling the thirteens, 9 supervisors) when instead each supervisor supervises 26 employees. So Statement 1 is sufficient.
If we have s supervisors now, we have 18s employees. If, as Statement 2 says, we'd need s-4 supervisors if each supervised 26 employees, then we must also have 26(s - 4) employees. Since the number of employees hasn't changed, 18s and 26(s-4) are the same number:
18s = 26(s - 4)
which we'll clearly be able to solve for s (or technically for s-4, which is what the question asks for), and that's all we care about in DS, so this Statement is also sufficient, and the answer is D. If we did care to solve, we'd get
18s = 26s - 4*26
4*26 = 8s
s = (4)(26)/8 = 26/2 = 13
and s - 4 = 9, which is reassuring because it agrees with our answer from Statement 1.

Statement 1:
Since each supervisor oversees 18 workers, we have 13*18 = workers in total. After reorganization, we will have \(\frac{13*18}{26} = 9\) supervisors. Sufficient.
Statement 2:
Set the number of current supervisors as x, then \(18x = 26*(x - 4)\). This is a linear equation so we can solve for x, sufficient.
