Hey guys,
First i'd like to say how amazing this place is. It is by far the richest source of information for GMAT... And i thank you for that.
I do have few questions for you.
Two years ago, i took GMAT with no preparation, since i only needed to take it in order to get in the grad school i was going to. Now, i am planing to apply for several doctoral programs and GMAT score needed is much larger. The first time i took it, my score was 560. I started studying some 10 days ago. I use Official guide 12th edition, Princetown's Cracking the GMAT 2011, MCGraw Hill GMAT 2011 and some other math oriented materials. I took the GMAT PREP test yesterday and scored 640 (24 out of 37 on math and and 32 out of 41 on Verbal). Although English is not my first language, i tend to do pretty good on the Verbal section. I spent last 6 years of my life in the US and my English has improved significantly, causing my understanding of Verbal part to go up. This is why i assume most of my focus should be on the math section. I need to score between 600 and 700, preferably over 650. I also understand that i need to put greater amount of time in solving the first 5-10 questions from each section in order to be put in a higher bracket by the computer. I am planing to take the test on December 23rd which leaves me with some 7 and a half weeks of study time. Any suggestions as to how much i should study, what ratio of reading vs. practicing tests should be?

Welcome to the GMAT Club Mister Eko!
I see a few areas to potentially improve:
1. Study materials - make sure you don't waste your time with second rate books. See this link: top-gmat-prep-books-guides-reviews-comments-77703.html and I will make it easy for you - get either the MGMAT Guides or the Veritas Guides
2. Study plan - you have a tight timeline. See this for starters: gmat-study-plan-for-gmat-novices-start-your-gmat-journey-80727.html
About the first 5-10 questions. It is a mixed bag - don't focus on this too much but if you can put a bit of an oomph somewhere, put it there.
I would recommend that you download gmat prep and take a practice test.
