All three OG books (12th edition, Verbal 2nd edition, Quant 2nd edition) are mandatory, so go ahead and incorporate those into your studies. Since you already have the Veritas collection, there is no need to purchase the MGMAT series.

I also recommend that you invest in the GMATClub Tests for quant GMATClub forums for verbal. These resources will help you to improve your score. After awhile, the guidebooks don't offer much value. Once you have successfully completed them and absorbed the material, move on to high quality question practice.

You can give Cracking the GMAT a skip. The material there in the book is very basic and after going through other material ,I don't think you'll require it.
Since you're planning to take the GMAT by 26th January, you should try to finish the concepts by 2-3rd January, then do some intense practice in each of the areas and then start taking CATs by 15th .

I agree with what everyone's said in this thread. You def should go through OG12. From Cracking the GMAT, only do the Question Bins at the end of the book - no need to go through any of their concepts/theories - it's not really helpful.

I've booked my date for 1st Feb, and have taken leave from work to study. On my way to completing OG12 at the moment. Plan on taking a PowerPrep test tomo, so I guess the rest of my plan will be formulated post that.

How was your CAT?

Thanks for all the advice guys! Greatly appreciated.

Just took my first CAT (GMAT prep) and got 620. Pretty early I got stuck in the Q-section, at the same time I'm trying to answer the questions, I'm having a little dog puppy (I'm babysitting my sisters dog) running around my apartment and barking. I thought that he could manage through the first 75 min but clearly I was wrong, so being disturbed that I was, I just managed to complete 29 questions and didn't even quess on the last ones (LOL...).

Do you think it's possible do to a certain 650+ in one month If I improve my timing and skill with Quants? If I were to rate myself doing the quants today I'd give myself an F.

Is there someway I can see my score again? For some reason I just clicked next after a second and didn't see what I got on the Q, I got 41 or 40 on Verbal though.

It's very possible to obtain a score of 650, especially given the circumstances of your first practice test session. However, make sure to mimic actual test conditions next time. This is crucial, as it represents the best indicator of your performance on the real GMAT.

I haven't seen the GMATPrep user interface in awhile now, but you should be able to see your overall score and subscores, as well as review all the questions.

An update.

Having completed both my GMAT prep tests with the following results
GMAT 1: 620, Q? V41
GMAT 2: 640, Q41 V36

The second test was a disappointment. Although I raised my quant some I messed up the verbal quite much. Having trouble staying focused and thinking I had more time than I had, I had to guess on the last three questions.

For my priority 1 school I need minimum 670 (to be certain of acceptance) and having only two weeks left before G-day I'm thinking about rescheduling my test to 22nd of February which will give me another 3 weeks of study. The school GMAT deadline is 28th of February.

Why don't you give 1 more practice test this week (maybe after 3-4 days) and see if you can get a good Quant AND Verbal score on that one? And maybe postpone your test based on that result instead?

I'm freaking out about my test already. Wondering daily if I should postpone it to end of Feb, and take additional unpaid leave from work. Maybe wanting to postpone the test is a common phenomenon among all whose test date is fast approaching? ;)

Hi guys,

I've scheduled my GMAT test @ 26th of january.

Basically I have 4 weeks to go and have spent approx 8 hrs/day last week studying GMAT.

OG 10th ED almost completed
Kaplan 800 almost completed

I have a a Veritas prep books set, OG quant & verbal and "Cracking the GMAT" left. Would it be wise to order Manhattan GMAT and OG 12th? I'm planning on spending at least 8 hours a day studying GMAT in the coming weeks. Would the material I have suffice or would I run out with 2 weeks left?

I'm planning on doing my first CAT-test tomorrow to identify my weaknesses. SC is propably my weakest area and quants with DS my strongest since the swedish "SAT" use DS in many questions.

I feel you should concentrate more on giving mock exams now than thinking bot study books. Your preparation looks comprehensive. Just brush up your weaknesses and you are ready to go!

All the Best!

I've decided to postpone the test 3 weeks. Although my school starts now in a week or two I'll still be able to put 4-6 hours of GMAT study per day so I think it is worth it :-)

The anxiety we are feeling is propably pretty common amongh the test takers ;-)

Good luck to you too!

I'm back ;-)

Do you have any advice for more math practice?

I've worked through OG11/12, the Veritas Set, Kaplan 800, Cracking the GMAT. I can't go through those questions again, they are too easy.

I've done the Knewton Math quant, Gmat Club diagnostic test, Math 25 set on this site. Is it worth doing the free Manhattan Challenge sets? I've only done half a MGMAT Challenge (#4) test but I think it is way too hard to be realistic? At least if I compare to the CAT's I've taken.

I only have two weeks left so I think my ROI would be higher if I put more effort into minimizing my errors and weak areas instead of doing unrealistic hard questions not likely to show up on the GMAT?

Do you have any recommendation for free geometry practice (hard difficulty) ?
