Hey Guys,
I normally don't post things on here, but I've really been worried how my app is looking for this coming fall. I'm more concerned with my GMAT score, and here's the scoop:
Self study (not well)
540 (8/29/2009):
32 V - 63%
31 Q - 28%
Manhattan GMAT (4 mos of studying)
700 (3/19/2011):
42 V - 95%
43 Q - 65%
Is my Q score too low for a top 15 program with a background in banking at a BB bank and a corp finance degree from a top 25 undergrad (low GPA w/ varying grades across analytical subjects)?
I've been hearing so many varying opinions (as I'm sure I'll see here), but I'm just trying to get an idea of what I need to focus on. Before you guys opine, just know that I can't get that high again, as my highest practice test score was 660.

In both of the tests your Q is approximately half your V. I think it's clear that you should work on Q more especially if applying for fields like finance and marketing, or PhD in general

Knowing your own practice tests scores, would you have believed if someone had told you in the morning of the actual 700 test day that you will achieve a 700 score? Probably not.
I believe you should try again, especially if the time spent on the GMAT is not going to hurt the other parts of your application (because I also do believe that it is perfectly possible to be admitted to a US top 15 programme with this score, provided you prepare the rest of the application well).
A better Q score will probably be quite essential in view of the "low GPA w/ varying grades across analytical subjects". Focus on it, hunt specifically for 700+ questions.
This being your first post on GMATClub tells me that you probably still have ahead of you the great prep opportunities that this forum provides - explore them - you will later appreciate how much it has given to you!
