Study Plan Advice

All,

I began studying for the GMAT about a week ago. This is my second crack at studying after a 2-yr hiatus, but this time round, I vouch to be part of the 700+ club. I registered for in-person courses with MGMAT which start on June 14, and currently following the MGMAT study organizer. I feel I am missing something, since the organizer seems to be really simple and does not offer a lot of OG problems in the beginning, which a lot of people on the forums have highly recommended to practice. The organizer consists of a lot of problems from the end of each of the chapters, but don't provide the same question format.

In order to get the most out of my studying time, should I not pay so much attention to the MGMAT problems and focus more on the OG problems assigned at the end of each chapter of the MGMAT study guides? Also, I plan on using an error log, but I noticed the timer doesn't work when I load it in Excel 2010. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Can anyone shed some light or advise of a more effective study method?

If you sign up for a class, follow the class schedule as best as you can. You're paying for the class and the company offering the class is trying to provide everyone the maximum benefit.

The reviews on MGMAT are generally favorable, this should be indicative the schedule + study plan developed by MGMAT has netted success for many individuals.

Thanks for the follow-up. I understand your position, but from what I've heard around forums is that MGMAT gears their program for students to score in the mid 600s, but in my situation I have to score in the low 700s. Have you heard that?

Also, the timer in bb's error log is not working in Excel 2010. Do you know if it might not be compatible with it?

Have you read the write ups? Many people who reviewed the MGMAT class (along with other programs such as Veritas, Knewton, etc) reported getting over 700 after the class. Someone could take a class and boost the score by 100 points, while someone else could take a class and not benefit at all. This is why we stress keeping an error log.

I am debating between Saruba's log for Excel 2007 and Spoilt and Trianglok's Awesome Error Log. Both attachments wont run the timer, though

Macros are off by default in Office 2007 and later. You must enable macros each time you open a file.

Are you enabling macros after opening the spreadsheet?

I am enabling Macros every time. I even went to the Trust Center in the Backstage View of the file and ensured that Macros was enabled, which it was. When I hit the timer, the actual time gets recorded vs. the number of seconds a problem took to calculate.

e.g. I hit "Start time" and the time populates in HH:MM:SS. When I press "stop time", the current time gets populated in the same format

Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks for your help with this.
