Hi All
I'm looking at getting a free copy of the 8 strategy guides from a friend who took the GMAT last year. The problem is that the online access to the question bank and the practice tests have expired. I plan to likely buy another MGMAT book, so I'm not too worried about the practice tests, but I am wondering about the value of the question banks for each of the strategy guides.
Should I suck it up and buy the books new (approximately $100 on Amazon) or will I be okay to use the strategy guides as-is; supplemented with the OGs and likely Kaplan Premier?
My goal is to hit 700+ - I want to go to Ivey and although I have a strong resume with varied experiences, I want to have a high GMAT and their average is around 670. I probably won't write until December 2011 or January 2012 and plan to apply early decision in May 2012.
I know my weakness is math - I have an accounting background but I haven't seen these types of problems since high school!

Hi there,
While extra questions are always helpful, I wouldn't worry too much about purchasing new guides just for the sake of those question banks. The important part as you begin to study is to get the content down, and the chapters along with the in-action problems in our guides should help you with that. Once you've found that you understand the material behind the types of questions asked on the exam, use our guides to reference specific questions in the OG that touch on the content you just learned. Since the three OGs are the only places you'll be able to find questions that have previously been on real GMATs (aside from the two online GMAT Prep tests) you should use those questions first and foremost. Only if you run out (and if you're studying properly you shouldn't!) should you need our question banks.
Based on how you're scoring, and what your goal score is, once you've gone through our 8 main guides, I would suggest looking into our Advanced Quant guide, which does come with extra questions. But only do this if you feel you want a little bit of an extra push once you've finished going through the first 8. The quant guide is here: https://www.manhattangmat.com/storeitems ... 0&catid=10
On a side note, since you've purchased the Official Guide Companion, you now also have access to our online tool called the OG Archer ( https://www.manhattangmat.com/ogc-plus.cfm ). I would strongly suggest using it, as it is a great way to keep track of your progress, time yourself, and analyze your results as you go through OG problems!
