mohater- Thank you for replying. Yes, GMATprep seems to be the most accurate evaluation but I want to save it till the last 3 weeks before the exam.

Matt- Thanks for a wonderful description of the GMAT scoring. Your post has helped me get a nice clear picture of the GMAT scoring.

[PS: Apologies for not using the best language on my original post (read "bloody") but I am sure you can understand how frustrating 60 hours of work, 15 hours of studying, and living in Shanghai without knowing mandarin can be.]

come on dude. u're complaining about living in Shanghai? I spent 2 years shuttling back btwn HK / Shanghai / Beijing / Shenzhen and they were the best 2 years of my life. Its really like the wild west down there. :) Work is cutthroat but the Chinese really know how to party.

MGMAT might put out some some good books but their CAT is not very accurate, at least with the limited sample that I've observed (myself). The week before my GMAT, I did:

GMATPrep 1: 770
MGMAT 3: 630 <--- WTF ... this was pretty much my MGMAT 1 diagnostic score, and created moment of self doubt two days before the real test.
GMATPrep 2: 730 <--- Confirmation of true ability

On the real GMAT I got 750.
