Hey all,
Background: I went to a middle tier undergrad with a 3.7 gpa and 4.0 in all finance/accounting related classes. I just got finished taking the GMAT for the first time. I scored 710 (47 Q - 40 V). I know it is a decent score but my practice scores were much higher (740-760) with Qaunt usually 50-51. I want to apply to a top finance program for MFin (Wharton, Princeton, UVA are my top choices). However, I do not have any finance experience and was relying on my GMAT Qaunt score to pull enough weight to lift the rest of my application.
Question: How much do finance specific programs weigh the GMAT, particularly the Q score. I understand that many of the applicants to MFin are coming straight from undergrad so applicants have to prove themselves through test scores and GPA. Is it necessary to retake my GMAT to raise my Qaunt score (in every practice test I scored 50+ and I knew I was scoring low while taking it because of nerves)? I understand GMAT scores of 700+ get you the "check mark" for MBA applications, but is MFin or related masters different? Also, time is not an issue because I work a job where I have a lot of downtime in between hectic projects.
Thanks. Any help would be much appreciated.
