I'm not sure why my performance on the GMAT is so terrible, even after studying for several months. After a month of study (few hours each day), i took a practice test and the results were dismal, a mere 530 on GMAT Prep. I figured i needed some guidance and signed up for Veritas Prep, and dedicated 1.5 months to classes that were 3 hrs long. I felt well prepared and confident after the course and decided to give GMAT Prep another shot. AGAIN!!! 530! WHAT THE HECK?!?! This past week I took a
MGMAT test and GMAT prep and my scores were 590 and 550, respectively. Those are not the scores I'm looking for. I am aiming for 630+. I dont know if I'm in a position to take the test this coming Weds. Im hoping GMAT Prep is wrong, and that the experimental questions on the actual GMAT will give me boost.
So here is my question: What kind of score will i need to be successful when applying to schools such as Johns Hopkins and NYU SCPS for their real estate program. I dont know if a 550ish will suffice. I am not even dreaming about applying to a top tier school because I do not had a stellar undergrad GPA and minimal work exp. I just want to go to a school with a name. A little background: recent college grad from a top 10 public university (poli sci major), 3.2 GPA with about 7 W's on my transcript (not sure how this will affect my app), no extracurriculars, about 1 yr internship experience in gov. finance at a major metropolitan city. Help guys! Should i be aiming for a higher GMAT score?
