SC - Manhattan Guide

Question

Hi Everyone,

I'm studying Manhattan's sentence correction book, does everyone fall their structure of completing the official guide questions in tandem with each chapter? My thought, i'm going to skip the official guide questions until the end, then do them all at once. Following the book, I feel as though I will automatically know which area is getting tested; therefore have an advantage with the questions.

Any suggestions?

You definitely don't need to do ALL the questions, but I would definitely recommend that you do some. The reason for this is that doing practice questions will help drive home the topics that you've learned. So maybe do every other questions, or every 3rd question to speed it up. But don't skip them all together. Plus, SC takes a long time to learn. So don't think that going through the book once will mean that you've learned everything. You may have to revisit topics, or revisit OG questions, and continue to learn. Keep an error log, and learn from your mistakes.

For math, I would strongly recommend using the OG alongside the Manhattan books. But I don't feel as strongly about this for SC. GMATLA offers an interesting compromise, though doing all of the recommended questions listed in the guidebooks wouldn't hurt you by any means. In other words, I don't think that it would put you in some artificial advantage to attempt specific types of practice questions from the OG shortly after reviewing them in a guidebook. And don't worry about running out of questions. There's the OG 13, OG Verbal, Manhattan's online SC question bank, the GMATClub SC forum, and the two GMATPrep tests.

At some point you'll have to do the OG questions and since there is no scoring when you do them, I'd recommend just going through the OG. Then when you're done, keep doing them in random order...close the book, randomly flip to a page and answer the question in 1-2 minutes or less. This helps you practice re-gearing your mind.

I feel the same, yet without practicing from the OG after every MGMAT chapter, I will remember nothing.
So I do each of the recommended exercises and write down everything in an excel log file, so later on I can go back to it and see which topic I need to strengthen and which questions I should try again.
