Hi - Have recently taken the first GMAT Prep without studying anything (after a long gap of 6 years) and scored 550 (44 Maths and 23 Verbal). Can you please suggest if this is a decent score to start preparing and target 720+ ? My question might sound naive but want to look at a realistic picture of how much one could end up scoring after getting a disappointing 550

Hi surya,
It is just your first test and yes, 720+ target is realistic. I scored 550 in my first GMATPrep. By taking the first test you did the right thing. Now you know that you are starting from 550. You realistic intermediate targets could be first 600 then 650 and then 700+. Follow a focused approach in your perpetration for GMAT and you will score well. Seeing your initial score, your quant is fine, but you need to focus more on verbal. If you improve from 24 to 34, keeping the quant score constant, you will achieve your intermediate target score of 650. A further improvement in your performance will add up to your overall score. Once again 720+, though difficult, is achievable. All the best for your prep!!
Hope this helps,
Vercules
