Firstly, soon you will realize that you either know a question or you don't. If you do, at worst it maybe one that that'll take 3 mins.

I don't know how GMATPrep works but on the real GMAT I noticed that if you get the easy questions in the beginning wrong, the algorithm isn't likely to give you another shot at hard problems to prove your quant skills.

Cobra - the whole strategy is based on the fact that it doesn't matter how many questions you miss, so I'm with you there. I guess a better way to phrase this would be, do you think 18 questions is enough to resurrect a score from the cellar, where it would be if you tanked the beginning.

NO. Play with the CATs if you have time and you will realize your hunch is wrong.
