I am absolutely miserable at these kinds of problems!

I'd like some good thorough overviews of these kinds of problems, starting w/ the basics and moving to the more complex, with step-by-step instructions. There are thorough posts about these problems on this forum but they are not all explained well and seeing equations rendered in lines of text isn't a great visual guide. I use the MGMAT books and I really like the table format they present for solving some of these, but I need help in how to express time/distance/speed differentials and a good guide on how to solve for certain variables.

Hi midocool,

Here's another blog post that gives pointers on distance or time problems: https://econgm.at/AqX7QC.

Hope this helps!

The key aspect in getting the distance-rate-time problems right is being able to visualize the specific scenario that is being tested. The basic set of equations are the same, however the applications are often different. In my opinion, the table approach has a limitation because in honesty no one has the time to draw neat tables in the exam. They look nice for explaining solutions but are not practical under exam conditions.

Here are some example problems that reflect how these types of problems are tested on the GMAT:

Cheers,
Dabral
