Hi,
I took my GMAT yesterday and scored 690 (Quant - 45, 63 Percentile; Verbal - 40, 91 Percentile) with overall Percentile 87. My target score was 700+ and with good preparation and growing improvements also I could not achieve it. I am now little bit confused about the next step. As already some application deadlines are closer for 2nd and even 3rd round, I am not sure whether to go with this score or retake the exam. My breakup of the score does not show 75+ Percentile in Quant and I am biology bachelors(Learning level of Maths upto 12th Std.). Again, I am from India where majority of students get very good quant percentile (which is not the case with me). I am unsure about the necessity of retaking of the exam and improving the quant score. I would really appreciate if someone can guide me regarding the decision.

A score of 690 isn't bad especially since you are a biology major. I think it will be easier to advice you if you tell me about the schools you are applying to and a little bit more about your background. 690 may not be a bad score for many business schools, however if you are targeting any of the top 10 schools, 690 with a low quant score may not be enough.
I would advice you to apply o a few schools in R2, schools with low GMAT averages. After that you can retake the test and apply with a higher score in the next cycle. You also need to remember that GMAT score isnt the only criteria on which your application will be judged upon. You need have a good GPA and experience as a leader.

With a 690/Q45, you have a fantastic GMAT score that would make almost every Business School happy, so retesting is probably NOT going to be necessary. Since you haven't defined the specifics of your situation, there are a number of factors to consider:
1) What schools are you planning to apply to?
2) When are you planning to apply?
3) What are the other details of your application (work experience, essays, etc.)?
4) How you would handle an interview?
5) Are you applying for any scholarships?
Etc.
Barring certain Finance-specific MBA programs and other "specialty" programs, if you applied and were wait-listed (or rejected), it would not be because of your GMAT score. If you're planning to apply to any competitive programs, you might consider working with an Admissions Expert who could help you to make your application as strong OVERALL as possible. To that end, you should pose any questions that you have to those same Experts (there's a Forum full of them on this site).
