Hi Rich,

Thanks for your reply. Here is some more detail about me.

I am planning to apply for part time MBA in Singapore this year (the session starts in July). I already applied to SMU and they have asked to retake GMAT to improve my score closer to their average 640. This has to be done by 30 may.

1) I have takes Test date of 23 April as all other slots were full for April.
2) I am practicing from OG 15th edition. I also have MGMAT books for SC and CR but haven't referred to them much.
3) I took a CAT recently and scored 620.

I feel my weak areas are DS, CR and RC. So kindly guide what will be the best way to improve in these areas.

Thanks,
Rohit

Hi Rohit,

Are you taking your GMAT on April 23rd so that you can take it again (if necessary) and still make the May 30th deadline?

When you took this recent CAT....
1) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores?
2) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT (including the Essay and IR sections)?
3) Did you finish any of the sections early? Did you have to rush to finish any of the sections (and just guess on a bunch of questions)?

If you took the FULL CAT and did so under 'test-like' circumstances, then you're remarkably close to your goal, so you might be studying in the proper way right now. A full review of this CAT is probably warranted. It's not enough to identify your 'weak' areas, you have to define WHY you're getting questions wrong. When you can answer THAT question, then you'll have to something that you can focus on (and fix).

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi Rich,

My score was Q(40) and V(35) and i didn't gave a full one including essay and IR. I think doing a full one will give a better idea.

I am trying to improve my quantitative score by more practice but Verbal still seems a weak area for me.

Hi Rohiddew,

As Rich was alluding to earlier, you may want to take the full CAT, as the practice will help build your stamina for the exam and give you a better idea of where you currently stand.

You have quite a way to go this last month of prep. How many hours per week do you plan to devote to studying? If you're still aiming to take the GMAT in April, I recommend that you meet with a tutor to help you hone in on your weaknesses and to develop strategies on how to best use these last few weeks for studying.

Best of luck. Let us know how things go.

Jessica
