I am getting ready to take my GMAT for the second time this Friday and I had a question about erase board strategy. Last time after the Essay and IR they would not give me a new erase board until I had completely used up the first one. However, since I am used to using the manhattan prep strategy for the erase board for the quant section, setting each page up into four quadrants with the timing at the bottom, I needed a new board even though the old one was not completely used up from essay and IR. My solution then was to use my hand to erase the previous couple of pages I had used for the essay and IR - this threw off my time and the proctor told me during the break that this was a little fishy...Has anyone else had a similar issue? Any suggestions on a better method than leaving the exam with hands covered in ink?

You can ask the people at the test company to erase the board for you, at least that's my experience. And if this really is a problem, just quickly nod down some gibberish to fill it up, would that be an option?

Wow, I'm shocked to hear that...especially for the quant section. It is a well known fact that the quant section is the most space-consuming for the erase board. There is no good reason why you shouldn't be given a clean board for the quant section.
That said, it is possible that a proctor would be unreasonable or do something out of the ordinary. I like the suggestion above...make sure you have filled out the notebook after that first section. Perhaps you could do the IR problems on separate pages...
