I would say that focusing on OG is more important than kaplan.
Even if the kaplan material is excellent to preparing for the test, OG has the question that more than likely will show up in the test.
Kaplan is great for preparing gmat but they do differ slightly from the ets questions.

The question types should definitely overlap...there are a specific number of different question types on the GMAT, and each of the guides at least tries to cover all of them. Some do it better than others, and have practice questions that are more representative of the real thing than others, but they all aim to teach strategies and give practice for the same types of questions.

I have not yet taken a PR course but am heavily leaning toward them based on my experiences with their books and recommendations from others.

i wouldn't use Kaplan at all. their math is wordy and is not similar to real gmat.
use official guide for verbal and challenges from this website for math.

I took a Kaplan Course before for the LSAT...and I totally dont think it's worth that amount of money! I wouldn't recommend it!

I guess it depends on how you look at it...in terms of study materials, Kaplan course offers you pretty much the same stuffs as all the other Kaplan books that you can buy on line. If you need help and discipline to study, then it's not a bad idea to join the class. But if you are a very disciplined person and has actively participate in this forum and want to save big bucks, then joining the class may not have a huge impact on you. Unfortunately, I found out this forum not until the Kaplan course is almost over... :(
