Hi MAH,

Yes, the Unofficial Scores have to go through a 'review' phase before they are made Official Score. That process normally takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the time of year. Unofficial Scores tends to be accurate though, so you'll know how well you scored.

GMAC changed it's testing rules recently (July 19th), so the rules that you know are probably from before the change. Here is what you need to know going forward:

1) After seeing your Unofficial Scores, you can cancel them (right there, in the Testing Center). You can re-instate them up to 60 days later though (for a $100 fee). Cancelled scores do NOT show up in your record NOR does the fact that you chose to cancel.
2) You only have to wait 16 days to retest (it used to be 31 days).
3) You can take the GMAT up to 5 TIMES in one 12-month period. So the scenario you've described (just keep taking the GMAT and canceling over-and-over until you get the score that you want), has a limitation to it.

These days, the 99th percentile is 750/760+ (700+ is about the 90th percentile). Pacing problems impact many Test Takers, especially early on in their studies, so you're not alone. As you continue to practice, and learn tactics, your pacing should improve.

When it comes to study materials, there are plenty to choose from. If you find that a particular resource isn't helping you, then there's the possibility that you just have not practiced enough with that resource OR you might want to consider changing resources.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
