Hi guys,
I'm an Indian male, working in Nigeria in the training and Development sector for 4 years. I gave my GMAT in 2014 without preparing much ( Just finished 3 ogs and that's it.) I got a 700, but seeing other people's post I assume 700 Indian male is equivalent to a 650. So I want to push myself to achieve at least 760 if not more. I plan on giving my GMAT in August again and other than redoing the ogs, could you please guide me in my preparation? The thing I realised I was the weakest in was Sentence Correction. Being an avid reader of poetry, RC and CR came very easily to me (In my GMATprep tests I got almost all of them correct.) But in SC I just had a 20-30% accuracy. So any advice about what to do to take that accuracy to 100%?
Getting a score of 700 without much preparation is a big feat and if you prepare well, 760 is attainable and since you are from India, it would be a good idea to take that score as high as you can.
Although you have already figured out that SC is your weakest area, still I would recommend you to opt for an ESR of the test so that we can be sure.
SC sub sections tests certain fundamentals such as "SV agreement, parallelism, comparisons, modifiers and usage of certain" words, that can be learnt using a course. You need to build the concepts/fundamentals before you jump in solving the problems. You can do so by choosing one of the following ways:
1. In person classes/private tutoring
2. Online classes
3. Self paced online preparatory course
4. Book heavy approach
Whatever you choose, make sure that you choose one. Because GMAT tests you on some concepts and fundamentals that you can learn from a course.
My personal recommendation for you would be to go for a score guarantee course. Most of the preparatory companies including ours offer a free trial of our course. You can take the trial and see if the course suits your needs.
