Hi,

I have read plenty about the GMAT scoring system. Then, out of nowhere, I heard from a friend that your final GMAT score is the average of your taken tests. Is this correct?
I am aware that the previous tests will be visible on the scoring report, but I have never heard, nor found anything about, that the final score is the average of your tests.

No. The GMAT tracks which questions you've seen so that it doesn't show them to you again, but it does not use any previous score data. Every attempt is treated as a fresh attempt.

So then I can practically take the test an infinate amount of times? (given that I have an infinate amount of 250$ bills at home)

Hi fredriklinder,

You should ask your friend what his 'source' was regarding the information he received (and then you might also want to be skeptical of anything else that he/she tells you). If you ever have any questions about the GMAT or the overall application process, then you should post them in the Forums here.

As far as the number of times that you can take the GMAT, you can do so up to 5 times in a 12-month period. For example, if you took the GMAT on April 1st, 2016... then you could take it up to 4 more times before April 1st, 2017.

1) How long have you been studying for the GMAT?
2) What is your goal score?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
