So far I've really only been planning on distance learning programs. They would allow me to keep my solid job, and not go into a ton of debt hopefully. Employer reimbursement for a small portion of it as well.
My question is, if I somehow completely kill the GMAT (big if) would I be shortchanging myself to not pursue a full time program?
The idea of an elite program really appeals to me, but not at a couple hundred grand in debt. Do any solid programs provide FULL rides? Sorry if a stupid question--I haven't seen much about it.

No question is stupid
Yes, almost every school offers full rides to students who are exceptionally. But yes, they are tough.
A decision between a fulltime and part time MBA should consider the debt part, but it should also cosider various other factors such as:
1. How satisfied are you with your job?
2. Do you want a career switch?
3. Are you ready to study full time for 2 years and not earning anything (you need to consider your family responsibilities)
4. Will the PT MBA be helpful in your current job?
Once you have answered these questions and have decided whether to take the GMAT or not, we can talk about the GMAT preparation

Hi Travis,
To properly define what your MBA plans should be, there are a variety of questions that YOU have to answer about what you want out of an MBA and the parameters that are important:
1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.
Once you've determined what type of Program you want to attend (as well as the other variables involved), then you can start to research and narrow down the possibilities. With that list, you can then review the 'options' at each School and put together a plan that best accounts for all of the 'variables.'
