Hi Travis,

To properly define what your MBA plans should be, there are a variety of questions that YOU have to answer about what you want out of an MBA and the parameters that are important:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

Once you've determined what type of Program you want to attend (as well as the other variables involved), then you can start to research and narrow down the possibilities. With that list, you can then review the 'options' at each School and put together a plan that best accounts for all of the 'variables.'

I'm currently in the automotive industry, and I intend to stay in that field. I actually work for a large Spanish company, and I am intrigued by the IE Global program. I'm happy in my current position, so intermittent travel is good, but I don't want to uproot my family unless something VERY lucrative presents itself. I'll definitely be applying for scholarships...i'm what they call debt averse :)

To sum it up, I just want a program that can challenge the exposure I've already had and provide me the skills needed to truly make in impact in the direction of the business, as opposed to being a workhorse that does the best with what's dealt to him. I think a solid MBA program could be the start of that.

Hi Travis,

Given the specific industry that you work in and the direction that you want to take your career, you might find it worthwhile to reach out to people in your industry who have the type of job/career that you're interested in. They might be able to provide some insights into the type of Program(s) that you should look into attending.
