Hello Guys,
I just started working on the GMAT a week ago and I plan to take the GMAT in 3 months. I have been reading so many articles on this forum and others that I became so confused and lost with all the options there is to study from! From the MGMATs, to
Magoosh, to some bibles etc...However, After reading all these articles, I formulated my own study plan that i started with for the past week but I feel like it is very wrong. I did a GMATprep exam to see where I sttand before opening 1 book and I got a 520 (Q34/60, V(27/60) which was disappointing. My goal is to get 700+ and I think it's very doable given the time limit I gave myself, I just want your help on how to do this.
Right now, all i have is the OG 16', and I've been doing a couple of diverse questions from different topics, and then looking over the solutions to both right and wrong questions through the book or through
Magoosh's video solutions. Even though I studied the concepts that were briefly put in the OG (that actually helped me remember a lot of things that I forgot) i feel like by looking through the solutions I am learning the concepts as well. I believe this is probably not enough to reach my goal of 700?
My Study Plan (Probably needs a lot of revision)
- 1st month: Finish the OG and study all the solutions to learn most of the things i missed and didn't miss (write down notes on notebook of the concepts that are new to me from the solutions)
- 2nd month: Get
Magoosh Premium and watch all the videos to help further my knowledge on the concepts and do all the practice questions to put the concepts to practice
- 3rd month: After probably knowing my weaknesses, i'll get books to help with those (Prediction: SC Grail,
MGMAT advanced Quant) - So basically study those specific books and practice through GMATprep question pack or something?
ALSO: Every week for the next 3 months, i will be doing a practice CAT exam through GMATprep software to see my weekly progress. Maybe on the 3rd month after buying a book or two I will use the
MGMAT CAT as well)
What do you think of my study plan? Is it better to study concepts first before working on the OG (even though I learn through solutions and
magoosh solutions to the questions). If it is better to study concepts, is
magoosh enough to get me to 700? or is it a good starting thing? Or should I buy the
MGMAT and read through those, an if i do get those where do i put my concept knowlegde to practice, since I heard the OG book is relatively easy)
Please help me out, I'm very lost with all these posts!
