Hi All,
It's my first time writing here and I really hope to get some help as I've been stuck with this exam for a very long time.
I first started studying for the GMAT in Summer 2012. Although I hadn't done sufficient prep I chose to take the exam after a month and a half and scored
580 (Verbal: 28 / 50%, Math: 42 / 50%, Total: 580 / 53%)
After that, I didn't study again until a year later (Fall 2013) when I devoted about a month and a half again and took it: The result was
650 (Verbal: 35 / 76%, Math: 45 / 62%, Total: 650 / 76%)
Then my life plans changed and decided to hold on the MBA applications for a few years until this spring. I started to study on and off again in March and have been studying continuously for a month and a half now. I have booked a test date for June 29 (in 10 days from now) but I am experiencing a score plateau in the CATs I have taken.
So far I have taken 3 Veritas CATs and 1
Manhattan GMAT CAT with the following scores:
Veritas #1: Total:
640 / 73%, Quant: 44 / 63%, Verbal: 34 / 69%
Veritas #2: Total:
680 / 85%, Quant: 48 / 78%, Verbal: 35 / 74%
Veritas #3: Total:
660 / 81%, Quant: 47 / 73%, Verbal: 34 / 69%
Manhattan #1: Total:
650 / 77% Quant: 44 / 58%, Verbal: 35 / 76%
My desired score is 700-750. I know I have the capability to reach that but I am experiencing a score plateau no matter how much I am studying each test and trying to learn from my mistakes. My question to you is the following: Should I reschedule the exam and take it later in the fall (July and August are hectic months at work so I'll start again in September) when my average CAT score reaches the desired level or even if I take it both now and later (in case my score is is not ideal the first time) won't harm my application given also that I've taken it a few times before? Also, is there any chance to do miracles in only 10 days or you think this is something that takes more time?
I have also thought of taking a week off from work but if the signs are not good now I'd rather keep these days for the fall and then take it at the end of October after a full two month preparation.
To give you a bit of my background, I am a 28yo male and English is not my first language albeit I have gone to college in the US. I have a background in sciences (chemical engineering undergrad) and work long hours. I usually study for 1-1.5hr in the AM (7-8:30) and then for another hour in the PM and 4-5 hours on the weekends.
Please help, any tips/advice would be appreciated!
