Hi everyone!
I have a question about scores...
I just did GMAT for the 3rd time and I scored lower than on my second attempt... I did GMAT 3 times. In February 540 (Q35 V29), in May 600 (Q44, V27) and today 560 (Q42, V26)
My main concern here is Quant. I've been studying for the past 7 months. I invested at minimum 1000 hours into GMAT, maybe much more!..
I don't have a tutor, I self-study. I used
Manhattan books, Veritas books and
Magoosh course and spent days here on the forum.
I started studying from absolute scratch. No math knowledge since like 7th grade. I mean it. All of this to say that I studied really a lot, did hundreds of questions from different sources. It is true that I didn't do any CATs since my last GMAT, but I spent this time studying the concepts I struggled with on my official 2nd GMAT.
Today on my official 3rd GMAT, the quant questions I saw were really strange. Like nothing I've seen during my practice, I swear! And I've seen A LOT of questions during my study. I could see that the question itself wasn't difficult, but I didn't get it. It happened on like 10 questions, I was really surprised by the "format".
So, is it possible that today I simply got unlucky with my questions? I know it sounds lame, but really, have you ever encountered something like this? Imagine I retake the exam in 16 days with no study, do you think I could improve to, say, 47? Because I really think I can get that mark, but today I was shocked by the questions, they were totally "inconvenient." I could clearly see the difference from my previous GMAT. If I had got those-type of questions today I am pretty sure my score would be way higher.
Please share any insights on this.
Thank you!
