Hi mh88,
Many Test Takers face pacing problems while dealing with either the Quant or Verbal section (or both), so you're not alone. However, pacing problems don't exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems. "Your way" of approaching SC and CR questions is inefficient, which is why you take too long during practice and why you're scoring at a lower level when you take your CATs. Unfortunately, 'tips' are going to make a significant difference right now; you really have to change the way you 'see' (and respond to) the Verbal section of the GMAT to 'fix' this issue.
Before we can talk about how best to proceed, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) What is your exact Test Date?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
