Hello ,
1. I dont have a target school . No target score either , but for now, I want to retake the test to get at least 650.
2.I took before one practice test ,the score was 640(Q44,V34 ) , then studied for 10 days ..
And today I took my first real GMAT , score : 550(Q44 , V23 )
My Quantitive score is the same as the practice test , that is normal ,but the Verbal score really shocked me! It is a great difference from 34 to 23 . What went wrong ?
During the test , I thought that I am doing well , in both sections .
However , I run out of time (in both sections ) , so I guessed the last 6-7 questions .
Could that alone be accountable for what happened ?
A summery about my GMAT preperation :
I started preparing seriously almost 3 months ago from Manhattan books,and OG . (before that , I read some of the books during on-off study period )
For Q : I practiced every problem in the OG 13 and understood the principle behind it, and kept an error log .
For V , I also did every proble on the OG , except reading .
P.S. During my test experiences , most difficult thing for me was RC . since I can't skip the passage because it have 3-4 questions so I have to read it in order no to get 3-4 guesses in a row .For one passage , it usually takes me almost 10 minutes to finish .
Please share your opinions and advise !

Hello!
From what I can gauge from your post, you are at a humble level and need to generally lift your verbal ability- a skill that will help you not only on GMAT but also in your management career.
The scores depend on different factors- most importantly, which mock tests are you taking? Are these GMATPrep scores? Then, other factors such as how fresh or fatigues you were during the mocks, how many guess questions went right, whether you got questions incorrect in a bunch, whether a high percentage of questions went incorrect in the beginning of the test- are various other factors that may have played a role.
My recommendation will be that at such an early stage in your preparation, please focus on developing concepts; chase learning, the scores will gradually follow.
It is common that the verbal scores dip in the beginning of the preparation because one no longer applies intuition and is unable to apply the concepts properly, leading to a bit of a mess. Hang in there, learn from the mistakes, and let the concepts consolidate. Scores shall follow!
Further, try to have a systematic, planned approach and try to avoid picking different study materials randomly- that elongates the preparation.
Keep the morale high and approach the GMAT as not just an exam to be cleared, rather an experience that will give you skills for a career in management.
