Looking at the correlation between the GMAT scores and the sum of Q+V I notice a trend especially considering the university requirements in terms of GMAT vs GPA ( converted in %grades).
I'm seeing a very close correlation with lower margins for Master level acceptance requirements, ie:
760GMAT =3.75GPA (A+ student) IVY League
700GMAT =3.5 GPA (A/A- student) Top International schools
650GMAT =3.25GPA (B+/A student) Top National schools
600GMAT =2.75GPA (B- student) Any other university
In terms of GPA or GMAT score, Going into grad school with anything below this doesn't show enough commitment or potential. And most likely reflects someone who just wants the letters.
So the analysis:
Considering Q & V each max at 51, a sum of 102 is the maximum.
Below I have provided the comparison in the form :
QV score --> GMAT Score -->Letter or % score
We can see a pretty close correlation between the Q+V vs GPA(letter or percentage) as well as the acceptance rates reported by

Based on the tables I see out there a rule of thumb seems to be:
Q+V >100 -->800GMAT --> Perfect score (100%)
Q+V =94 -->760GMAT --> A+ (over 95%)
Q+V =86 -->700GMAT --> A (avg 85%)
Q+V =79 -->650GMAT --> upper B+ (just under 80%)
Q+V =72 -->600GMAT --> B- (low 70%s)
Q+V =66 -->550GMAT --> C 65%
Q+V =60 -->510GMAT --> you barely made it through undergrad... you need to push harder for a Master degree, get into the books and study harder!
