Hey Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well. I am looking for advice on how to go about approaching the GMAT prep. I have never given the exam before and I can not seem to get a handle on what would the best way to approach the coursework and so on. Would really appreciate your help on some materials that I should look at and some resources i could use.

Hi Pratique,

1. Start by making an official ID on mba.com. This will automatically give you the access to two free official practice GMAT prep tests and 90 official questions.

3. After initial brush up of fundamentals, give GMAT prep free test - 1 and assess where you stand.

Hello pratique and welcome to the GMAT Club!

You might want to check your PM (top left corner "MY PMs") as every new member gets a PM from the founder bb. That is a great place to begin as it has some nice posts on how to plan/strategize and other things like freebies ( =2 free CATS from mba.com and other free diagnostic tests to gauge your starting point). One link could be this.

Apart from such posts, there are tons of live discussions going on in all the forums here - you can feel free to hop on to one and ask any specific doubts you may have.

Hi pratique,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
